Draft Your Blueprint

"Greatness is what reveals itself when you attempt to carefully articulate and live out what you believe to be true.  It just happens. Truth is the antidote for suffering in the long term."

Your Personal Set of Plans - The Big Picture

Now that you have taken the time to determine what you want, it's time to create a vision of your dream life, just like your dream home.  You do this by drawing up a set of plans. The blueprints to follow.  This blueprint is your personal plan for success.  Writing down these initial goals and drafting a plan that will set you on a path to building the life you have always dreamed about Just like your dream home.  But, the only way to hit the target is to know where to aim.  That's where these plans come in.  Based on where you want to end up, what are some short term behavoirs and goals that will help you get there? What are some things you could work on personally and professionally that would help you get the things you are asking for?  What would improve your overall health and wellness do toward helping you achieve the results?  Take some time and consider writing out 3 goals for each area.....

Goals

Personal – relationships, spiritual development, Mindfulness, Stoicism

Professional – Job you have, Business you want, Skill Development

Health and Wellness – Nutritional, Strength, Mobility, and Flexibility

Once you know where you want to go, you can start to figure out how you are going to get there.  But until you do that you will never arrive.  Now that you know the things you want, the kind of lifestyle you want to have, you can begin to create a plan that supports that lifestyle.  So many of us think the only way to get the things we want in life is to earn lots of money and buy them.  But there are so many other ways.

Like the Mexican fisherman for example.

                                                                          The Banker and the Fisherman

An American investment banker was taking a much-needed vacation in a small coastal Mexican village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked. The boat had several large, fresh fish in it.  The investment banker was impressed by the quality of the fish and asked the Mexican how long it took to catch them. The Mexican replied, “Only a little while.” The banker then asked why he didn’t stay out longer and catch more fish?  The Mexican fisherman replied he had enough to support his family’s immediate needs.  The American then asked, “But what do you do with the rest of your time?”  The Mexican fisherman replied, “I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take siesta with my wife, stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine and play guitar with my amigos: I have a full and busy life, señor.”

The investment banker scoffed, “I am an Ivy League MBA, and I could help you. You could spend more time fishing and with the proceeds buy a bigger boat, and with the proceeds from the bigger boat, you could buy several boats until eventually, you would have a whole fleet of fishing boats. Instead of selling your catch to the middleman, you could sell directly to the processor, eventually opening your own cannery. You could control the product, processing, and distribution.”  Then he added, “Of course, you would need to leave this small coastal fishing village and move to Mexico City where you would run your growing enterprise.”  The Mexican fisherman asked, “But señor, how long will this all take?”  To which the American replied, “15-20 years.”  “But what then?” asked the Mexican.  The American laughed and said, “That’s the best part. When the time is right you would announce an IPO and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich. You could make millions.”  “Millions, señor? Then what?”  To which the investment banker replied, “Then you would retire. You could move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take siesta with your wife, stroll to the village in the evenings where you could sip wine and play your guitar with your amigos.”

Creating a lifestyle that you love may not necessarily require a lot of money.  But it will take time, patience, creativity, and imagination.  And most importantly a willingness to go for it.  So many people dream small, think short term, and have limiting mindsets that make so many things seem out of reach or feel impossible to achieve.  But I am telling you these things can happen for you.  You don’t even have to know what it is you should be doing.  Just envision the life you want and the opportunities will present themselves so you can create that life.  If you want to spend your life traveling the world, there are ways to do that now.  Well, I have kids and responsibilities.  So what.  Why cant they join you?  What better education than experiencing the world? What better place the learn to speak

Spanish than in Spain?  What better place to learn about physics than Cern?

There are so many ways you can have the things you want.  But first, you have to ask,  You have to want them, you have to be willing to work for them.  But if you follow the process you can have them.  This is how you start to create your blueprint.  Once you envision the dream, break it down.  A blueprint is a set of plans, not just one page.  It is many pages of the same thing just from different perspectives.  There’s the foundation page, the rough framing page, the plumbing, electrical, and HVAC pages that each show the same overall vision but each breaks down their specific sets of information.  Your blueprint should do the same.  So let's start drafting.

Your Personal Set of Plans

First, what does your FOUNDATION PLAN look like?  These are your core values.  Morales.  How you layout your foundation and what you stand for will forever impact the rest of your structure.  How everything else will fall into place in the future.  Without a solid, principled foundation, you will struggle to build your dream house or your dream life.

Foundation - What are 3 values that you will not compromise that will help you on this journey?

1.  __________________________________________________________________

2.  __________________________________________________________________

3.  __________________________________________________________________

The ROUGH FRAMING PLAN of your blueprint is the basic layout of what you want to achieve.  It’s the outline.  As you develop this page, you are making sure you have the right rooms and structures.  The right floorplan.  You begin to layout your vision.  This is your daily habits, this is how you begin to shape your routines.  The life you want doesn’t look like the life you have now, so you have to start to change it. The best way to do that is through changing habits.  Replacing bad habits with good ones.  Attaching new habits to existing ones.  Modifying the routine.  Finding better ways.  Begin open to better ways.  Being open to new information and experiences.

What are 3 small changes you could implement today that will start your forward momentum?

1.  _____________________________________________________________________

2.  _____________________________________________________________________

3.  _____________________________________________________________________

Next, you've got the MECHANICAL SYSTEMS PLAN.  These pages of your blueprint tell you where to run the water, outlets, switches, and vents throughout the home.  These systems must be in the right place or else the home will not function effectively or efficiently.  The same with your life or lifestyle.  Without the correct and necessary actions and decisions, your life will not function at its highest capacity.  Think about these steps like diet, exercise, and mediation.  These functions are necessary they must be there, they must be used regularly and incorporated into your plans.   What are the systems you need to develop to be more successful at your job, your relationship, your overall health?

Professional - ____________________________________________________

Personal -  ______________________________________________________

Wellness -  ______________________________________________________

The last few pages of the blueprints are the RELIEF PLANS. the different views of the same thing.  Look at your dream from different perspectives, the right, and left sides will look completely different than the front and the back.  Make sure your blueprint considers these things.  Rooflines, street view, land lot, and schematics.  These pages of your blueprint serve to crystallize your vision. Extra details and specific angles for your dream life.  These are the little daily details that you do to make your business and life successful.  Allotting specific times for emails and limiting their time.  Scheduling time with family and friends.  Refining your business practices to improve your product business or service.  These are the ways you train your employees, how you develop those around you.  The steps it takes to run your business.  What are 3 things in your life that you could look at from a different perspective?

Relationship  ___________________________________________________________

Situation or Problem You Faced in the Past  ______________________________________

Difficulty You Are Currently Struggling With  ___________________________________

Once you have your blueprint, you are ready to get started.  The most important thing to remember is that the blueprints are the overarching vision for the dream.  If you can follow the plan and implement the process, the final product will come into form.  There will be notes, modifications, tweaks, twists, and improvements made all over every page, but the overall vision remains.  The finished product, the dream home will remain as the constant reminder of the goal and why you are doing everything you do.
